Germany Facts - Population - The population of Germany is between 82 and 83 million people! Bavaria claims approximately 13 million of those people, being Germany’s largest state. Bavaria takes up about 20 percent of the land that Germany occupies, being a little over 27,000.00 square miles. A portion of those square miles are inhabited by the beautiful Alps.
Munich is Bavaria’s largest city, as well as its capital. With a population of a little over 1.4 million, it is situated in the southern middle of Bavaria. Some of the other larger cities in Bavaria include: Neuremberg, Augsburg, Wurzburg, Regensburg, Ingolstadt and Furth.
Germany Facts - Time Zone - Bavaria is on CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME. That is equal to Eastern Standard Time plus six hours. Also, Bavaria does incorporate Daylight Savings Time into their yearly calendar. Hopefully you will enjoy this clock that displays the current time in Munich, Germany – the capital of Bavaria.

Germany Facts - Currency - Bavaria, and the rest of Germany uses the Euro for their currency. The Euro is made up of 100 cents, just like the American dollar. You can get paper Euros in denominations of €5, 10, 50, 100, 200, and 500 bills (they would call them notes). When you are in Germany, if you are using coins in Euro for the first time you may be surprised to find that their coin includes denominations of €1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and a coin for 50 cents.

Germany Facts - Language - German is the official language of Germany. It can be surprising to know that German can sometimes actually be considered a sister language to English. It is true, to. When you visit Bavaria, you will find that you are able to figure many words out without know German. One example is the word Fact. In Germany, if you were trying to read something and the word was FAKT it is fairly certain that you can figure out what that word means. Many of the words in German are like this and you can guess what the English word is for the particular word you are looking at.
There are some words in German, however that are VERY long. The German language many times put single thoughts into an entire word, thus making them very long and hard for an English speaking person to try to figure out how to say. In Bavaria, many may greet you with a very friendly Gruss Gott!
